THE RELEASED TIME BIBLE PROGRAMUnder Pennsylvania state law public school students are allowed to be released from school for one hour per week (up to 36 hours a year) for religious instruction. CBM has provided this instruction in SWPA since 1970. The work, begun in Greene county under the direction of Reba Miller, has grown and expanded to Fayette and Butler counties and now ministers to over 850 students. What

More
than 250,000 students are enrolled in 1000 Released Time Programs in the USA. Classes

Some secondary schools offer RT as an elective for 9 weeks. The
Purpose of Released Time We
conduct the Released Time Bible Program to accomplish the following
goals: 2.
To teach the Word of God. 3.
To promote Scripture memorization and give students an opportunity to
recite them. 4.
To provide opportunities for Christian adults to use and develop their
spiritual gifts. 5.
To
provide opportunity for students to relate to Christian adults in a loving and
caring environment. Every
day in America… -
248
Children are arrested for violent crimes -
2,250
students drop out of school -
176
children are arrested for drug use -
427
children are arrested for alcohol abuse These are statistics we’d like to see changed. While the education you child receives in school is extremely important, we believe that instruction in morals and character is equally important. Our classes will help your child know how to rightly apply the things they are learning in school. RELEASED
TIME is
a one hour Bible class held during school hours.
With you permission, your child will be taken by bus or walked to a
nearby church or civic center. The
class schedule includes singing, prayer time, Bible based character lesson and a
review game. He or she will be
returned to the school within one hour. |
